The Montessori Way

Freeing Your Child's Creative Potential

Brixton House follows the Montessori system of education, as it recognises that children learn in different ways and accommodates all learning styles. Students at Brixton are free to learn at their own pace, each advancing as he or she is ready, guided ably by trained teachers who follow an individualized learning plan for each child.

Learning While Exploring – The Montessori Way

“The most important period of life is not the university studies but the first one, the period from birth to six.” – Maria Montessori

The Montessori system which focuses on a child’s natural holistic development – based on the his or her natural abilities – is the most suitable system to effectively prepare children for a promising future in today’s world.

The Montessori method encourages children to develop autonomy from a very young age. It emphasises on providing the much-needed stimulation during the sensitive periods of childhood, when the infant mind is like a hungry sponge. It’s that perfect age to allow your child to move and act freely, and develop his or her creativity and problem-solving skills.

Here, teachers are gentle guides who encourage children to complete learning activities with as little adult interference as possible. When children learn in this manner, they develop confidence, independence and the art of collaboration as well.

In a nut shell, the Montessori method encourages:

  • Children take the lead in learning activities from a young age
  • Gain more opportunities to find their own solutions
  • And learn, without stress, from their mistakes
  • Empowering them with a life-long love of learning
